What's the Catch? It's simple. YOU create your catalog pages, or embed the html into your existing pages to take advantage multiple merchant account processing methods. Of which, Paypal is the simplest because it doesn't require a merchant account and all the associated fees. If you already have a merchant account - even better!
Thank you for your support!
How eMartCart Works
The eMartCart system is a shopping cart "front end" for the PayPal system. With PayPal, anyone can take credit card orders online, and you don't need a special merchant bank account. PayPal will deposit money directly into your current bank account, or you can have a check mailed to you. However, to use eMartCart, you must have a Premier or Business account with PayPal. This is because eMartCart uses the "Web Accept" service that is only available with those accounts, not with PayPal's free service. There is no setup fee or monthly charge for a PayPal Premier or Business account, and in fact, for a limited time only, PayPal will pay you $5.00 to open your account if you provide a "verified" bank account (which you will want to do, anyway, in order to get direct deposits). See the PayPal site for complete details. For this service, you pay only 30¢ ($0.30) plus 2.2% of the sales amount for each transaction, which is less than the credit card transaction charge for most merchant accounts.
The eMartCart system enhances your PayPal account by providing a shopping cart system with features such as sales tax calculations, multiple shipping options, and "pull-down" lists on your order buttons for customers to select color, size, or other product options.
With eMartCart and PayPal, not only will you save money by not needing a merchant account, you will also not need to pay extra for an "e-commerce" type of Web site: You don't need any interactive programs or "secure server" certificates on your Web site, so you can add eMartCart to the site provided by your ISP or any of the various free Web site hosts on the net. All you need are standard HTML pages with "Order" buttons linked to eMartCart. You can create these pages with our Create a Catalog Page form and then upload these pages to your site. Or you can use the form to create the HTML for "Order" buttons only and add them to any existing pages that you already have, or to any new pages that you create with your favorite HTML editor.
When a customer clicks on an "Order" button, he or she will be taken to the eMartCart site with that item added to the shopping cart. On the cart page, the customer can change the quantity, select an optional shipping method (if you provide more than one), add tax to the order (if you provide the tax region and rate), or delete items, then continue shopping and adding items to the cart.
When the customer clicks the "Check Out" button, he or she will be taken to the PayPal site to pay by Visa or MasterCard. This is a fully secured site using the highest industry standards for financial transactions and data storage. Customers will need to open a PayPal account to pay, but this is free (in fact, your customer gets a $5.00 bonus for doing so!), and it doesn't take any longer than an ordinary online credit card payment. Better yet, for each new "verified" account that is opened by a customer using your shopping cart, you get another $5.00 bonus from PayPal!
IMPORTANT NOTE: When a customer checks out through eMartCart, you will receive the full order details by e-mail from eMartCart, not from PayPal, but you will receive the payment confirmation by e-mail directly from PayPal. Since eMartCart uses the standard PayPal Web Accept method, and this method accepts only one item at a time, eMartCart will first send you an e-mail with all the items in the cart order, and then transfer to PayPal with the "item" set to be an assigned "Cart Order Number". The amount to be charged will be the total calculated price for all items, plus tax and shipping (if any). The Cart Order Number in the PayPal transaction will match the Subject line in the e-mail message sent to you by eMartCart with the order details. When you receive the notice of payment from PayPal (which you will receive only if the customer successfully completes the transaction in PayPal), you can match the Cart Order Number in the PayPal transaction to the Subject line in the eMartCart e-mail message, and then fill the order. The PayPal transaction notice will contain all of the customer information (specifically, the shipping address and the e-mail address). Note that eMartCart does not collect any customer or credit card information. Technical note: eMartCart uses browser "cookies" to hold the contents of the cart. Cookies can be disabled (intentionally or accidentally) in a browser. If you receive reports that a shopping cart is not working, please ask the customer to check this browser setting. Please assure your customers that these cookies do not contain any personal information, that cookies can only be sent to the same domain that originally set them, and that eMartCart cookies are cleared when the customer checks out. Also, note that eMartCart cookies "expire" after twenty-four hours (one day) if the customer does not check out before then. Otherwise, customers have twenty-four hours to check out (even if they leave your site and return later) before the cart order is discarded.
