Problems with shopping cart

I just received a complaint from a customer stating they could get a shipping rate after they adding the products they wanted to the cart. When I went and checked it, I added her products to the cart and put in her zipcode. When I hit the update button the page got stuck in the middle of loading the cart page back up with the updated total. From there I went back to my website and tried using the checkout button on a catalog page and it gets stuck loading again. I havent received any orders in nearly 24 hours and I average between 4-6 orders a day which leads me to belive this problem has been happening for awhile. Please check into this and advise.
